“America’s Diplomats” film screening and discussion

Thursday, November 9, 2017
6:00 pm
Verity Lodge, Middletown Campus

From Ben Franklin to Benghazi, the film America's Diplomats will take us inside the Foreign Service and behind the scenes of U.S. foreign policy. Discover the role our diplomats play in shaping American history. Uncover the origins of our Foreign Service and the danger American diplomats face far from home. Our speaker for the evening will be Todd Schwartz who retired from the Foreign Service in September 2015 with the personal rank of Counselor (roughly equivalent to Brigadier General). His overseas postings have included Germany, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Qatar, the Philippines, Kuwait, Canada, and Iraq. After the screening, he will share some of his first hand experiences. Schwartz is currently executive director of the European American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cincinnati. This event is made possible by the Greater Cincinnati World Affairs Council and the Verity Traditions Lecture Series of the Miami University Regional Campuses.

Part of Miami University Regionals' 2017-18 Globalization Seminar Series. Globalization Seminars are designed to provide an additional platform where members of the university, business ,and civic communities can connect to stay current on globalization topics.
