Black Feminism: Legacies and New Directions

Beverly Guy-Sheftall is the Anna Julia Cooper Professor of Women's Studies and Director of the Women's Research Center at Spelman College. She has published many articles on feminist theory and global black feminism, and her co-edited books include Sturdy Black Bridges, Words of Fire, Traps: African American Men on Gender and Sexuality, and a co-authored text, with Jonnetta Cole, Gender Talk: The Struggle for Equality in African American Communities. In 2017, she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
