Dr. Bucar is an internationally renowned scholar of religion and professor at Northeastern University. She is an ethicist who has done fieldwork in Iran, Indonesia, Turkey, and the US. The author two books on religious clothing--The Islamic Veil: A Beginners Guide and the award-winning Pious Fashion: How Muslims Dress--Bucar has also written on this topic for popular outlets including The Atlantic, LA Times, and Religion News Service.
