Plan B: Making a Living as a Writer

Tuesday, October 2, 2018
4:30 pm
Shideler Hall 152

What does it mean to be a freelance writer? How do you find work? Can you make a living? (Spoiler alert: Yes, a very good one.)

Alumna Judi Ketteler will share her story of wandering bleary-eyed out of Bachelor Hall and into the world of professional writing. A full-time freelance writer since 2002, she has written for dozens of consumer magazines, and is currently a columnist for Cincinnati Magazine and a frequent contributor to The New York Times. Judi also writes speeches, video scripts, and website copy for numerous corporate clients. She is the author of Sew Retro (Voyageur Press, 2010), and her book on honesty—a personal reflection on what it means to live an honest life when the world feels intensely dishonest—is forthcoming from Kensington Publishing.
