What Does "Research" Mean For an Art Historian, and What Does the Shroud of Turin Have To Do With It?

Wednesday, February 12, 2020
12:00 pm
Bachelor Hall 337

Part of the Humanities Center, Lunch Time Lecture Series on Humanities Research.

Contrary to what one might think, many art historians conduct research in places other than in museums and galleries. In this talk, Prof. Andrew Casper will show how he conducts research for his current book on the Shroud of Turin, including the kinds of questions he uses to interrogate images, what kinds of places he visits to find answers to those questions, and how he has quite possibly the best job in the world.
