A ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by President Greg Crawford and Dean Renée Baernstein will be followed by an open house with tours of new facilities and interactive activities in English; History; Philosophy; Media, Journalism, and Film; and the Ohio Writing Project.
We will also celebrate the naming of the Altman Institute for the Humanities, made possible by a generous gift from John W. Altman ’60. John has been a tireless supporter of the humanities at Miami for many decades. The institute that now bears his name was first imagined by a diverse faculty committee and launched in 2009 under the leadership of inaugural director Allan Winkler. Its growth since that time has required the passion and energy of many dedicated faculty members, administrators, staff, and alumni. None of this progress would have been possible without John Altman’s foresight, leadership, and remarkable generosity from the beginning.
Please join us on September 25 to toast John and thank him personally for what he has given us, our students, and our community.
