What happens when a 500-year-old poem meets a living voice? This performance brings the poetry of Luís de Camões, the great Portuguese Renaissance poet, into the present through voice, music, and movement. Instead of studying the poems on the page, the audience is invited to experience them as something alive; spoken, sung, and embodied. Love that burns without being seen. Exile. Desire. Longing. Camões wrote about emotions that still feel strikingly modern. You do not need to know anything about Camões to attend. Just come and listen, and let the words travel across time.

Professor Paula Gândara of Miami University will be performing poetry by the highly esteemed Portuguese writer Luís de Camões in the format of a one-woman show in the Heritage room in Shriver (room 325) from 6 to 7 pm, April 3 2026. The performance fuses theatrical dance and song with the poetry. Although the language is Portuguese, all are invited and welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be provided.
