Coe, the author of the bestselling 2020 book "You Never Forget Your First: A Biography of George Washington," examines the status and significance of Washington today, as the United States commemorates the 250th anniversary of its Declaration of Independence.

Alexis Coe is an award-winning presidential historian and a senior fellow at New America, a bi-partisan think tank. In July 2025, Coe became the American History Columnist at the New York Times.
