Is American democracy fundamentally in danger? What can be done to safeguard the nation's democratic institutions and traditions? In this talk, Dr. William G. Howell, the Sydney Stein Professor in American Politics and Director of the Center for Effective Government at the University of Chicago, will examine these questions through the lens of recent developments in American national politics as well as longer-term trends of disruption in the social, economic and cultural fabric of the nation.
