Daniel Dove, 2004 winner of the Young Painters $10,000 Yeck Purchase Award will present the first of two lectures for the Selections from the Miami University Yeck 21st Century Collection of Painting and Sculpture exhibit.
Dove's award winning painting, Complex Duples Complex, 2003, is on view in the Hiestand Galleries September 2-October 4, 2022. Dove received a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin and an MFA from Yale University in 1996. Daniel has participated in solo and group shows at galleries and Universities around the United States, including Jack Shainman Gallery (NYC), Philip Martin Gallery, Cherry and Martin Gallery and Mark Moore Gallery (LA), Santa Barbara City College, the Frederick Weisman Museum (LA), the Katonah Museum of Art (NY), Florida State University Museum, and the Cleveland Institute of Art. His work has been featured in various publications including Art in America, Tema Celeste, The Los Angeles Times, The Village Voice, LA Weekly, Artforum, Harper’s, New American Paintings, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and Artillery Magazine. He has received grants from the Dallas Museum of Art and the Ohio Arts Council, and is the recipient of The William and Dorothy Yeck Award and a Joan Mitchell Foundation Fellowship.
The exhibit features works from the past twenty-three years as the Hiestand Galleries and the College of Creative Arts celebrate the Miami University Young Painters and the Miami University Young Sculptors Competitions. These competitions are a generous gift from William (Miami Class of 1936) and Dorothy Yeck of Dayton, Ohio. As part of the exhibition, former Yeck Purchase Awardees will be invited back to campus to participate in public events and connecting with students in the Department of Art. Featured artists include: Daniel Dove, Kahlil Robert Irving, Rachel Linnemann, Dana Oldfather, Annie Ewaskio, Christine Gray, Eric LoPresti, Meena Hasan and Carrie Longley.
