Art 100

Alice Pixley Young is an artist working in the Midwest. She has been featured in Sculpture Magazine, Hyperallergic and recently exhibited at Crystal Bridges Museum, Akron Art Museum, Sarasota Art Museum, A.I.R Gallery, and the 21c Museums. Young was awarded Best in Show for her installation at 1708 Gallery’s InLight exhibition at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

She speaks about her recent work, "My recent work is influenced by my time spent bird watching and hiking at a nearby nuclear brownfield-turned-nature preserve. I am interested in these modern superfund sites and how they superficially rewild. Climate crisis, formal gardens, mines and more mythological themes of 'what lies beneath' address our contemporary anxieties in universal and ageless ways."
