Janisse Ray is the author of five books of literary nonfiction, including Ecology of a Cracker Childhood, and a collection of nature poetry. She holds an MFA from the University of Montana and is the recipient of several awards, including the American Book Award. Ray has been visiting professor and writer-in-residence at many universities, and she lectures widely on nature, community, agriculture, wildness, sustainability, and the politics of wholeness.
