The concert consists exclusively of works by living composers, and includes several by Miami Department of Music Faculty member Per Bloland. The evening will unfold as a live podcast, with the music accompanied by historical background material presented to the audience, andshort interviews with several of the composers. In addition, each piece will be accompanied by a video, created by a video artist that works closely with the ensemble. In some cases this video art will be generated live, in response to the performance.
Humanities Lecture: Creating a Multimedia Concert

The lecture/presentation,scheduled for the following day, will be delivered by ensemble director and conductor Peyman Farzinpour, and associate director and cellist Nara Shahbazyan ’05, M.M. Over the course of their talk they will address the multimedia aspect, discussing issues such as integration of sound and image, the use of multiple modalities in connecting with audiences, and technical and artistic challenges that often arise.
Awarded “Ensemble of the Year”in 2015, this avant-garde contemporary music ensemble has captivated audiences worldwide. They combine contemporary music with video artistry for an experience like no other.
Over the last three years, the ensemble has premiered more than a dozen compositions and multimedia pieces from award-winning artists. This performance showcases compositions from Miami University music professor Per Bloland, along with other pieces. The ensemble’s multimedia works and unique collaborations create an immersive experience,transporting audiences to places they could only imagine.
