Michael Eric Dyson, distinguished university professor at Vanderbilt University and bestselling author, will explore Martin Luther King, Jr.'s radical legacy and its pressing relevance to today’s issues of race, economics, and justice.
Dyson holds a doctorate in religion from Princeton University and teaches in African American and Diaspora Studies and in the Divinity School at Vanderbilt. He has taught at Brown University, Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, and other leading institutions. He is the author of more than 25 books, including seven “New York Times” bestsellers, and has received honors such as the Langston Hughes Medal, the American Book Award and NAACP Image Awards.

As a teacher who earned a doctorate in Religion from Princeton University, Dyson has taught at some of the nation’s most distinguished universities, including Brown, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Columbia, DePaul, the University of Pennsylvania, and Georgetown University.
He is presently the Centennial Chair and University Distinguished Professor of African American and Diaspora Studies in the College of Arts and Science and University Distinguished Professor of Ethics and Society in the Divinity School at Vanderbilt University.
