Dr. Tatiana Rabinovich draws on ethnographic fieldwork in Saint Petersburg between 2015 and 2017 for her talk. Her work explores how low-income Muslim women responded to conjoined crises in their lives and around them by eschewing political organizing and refusing hustling as familiar modes of dealing with hardship. Instead, they chose to extend themselves in solidarity and care to vulnerable humans and more-than-human others within and outside of their community.
