Elissa Washuta is a member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe and a nonfiction writer. She is the author of White Magic, a nonfiction book which the New York Times called a “beguiling and haunting account of her spiritual life.” The book was a finalist for the Pen Open Book Award, and NPR, Time magazine and LitHub all called it a Book of the Year. Elissa is also the co-editor of the anthology Shapes of Native Nonfiction: Collected Essays by Contemporary Writers.
