Miami University and the University of Cincinnati will co–sponsor a research symposium devoted to "Post-Cold War East European Film and Media," which will be held on the Oxford campus. In addition to lectures by faculty and students from Miami University and the University of Cincinnati, the symposium will feature four invited lecturers, one scholar, two directors, and a producer. The invited guest speakers include Tatjana Greguric Jukic, UC-International Visiting Scholar and Film Professor from the University of Zagreb (Croatia); Darko Lungulov, Director of the film Spomenik Majklu Dzeksonu (2014) ["Monument to Michael Jackson"] (Serbia); Ilinca Calugareanu, Director of Chuck Norris vs. Communism (2015) (Romania); and Mara Adina, the Producer of Chuck Norris vs. Communism (2015). The symposium will feature public screenings of both films, lectures on Post-Cold War East European Film and Media, and a round table discussion of East European Directors in Hollywood during the Cold War. The event is free and open to the public and a detailed schedule of events is forthcoming.
