Publishing Symposium

Join the Creative Writing program and the English Department for the annual symposium on publishing, Monday, April 15 at 5:30 on Zoom.

Three publishing professionals--Lisa Ampleman, the Cincinnati Review & Acre Books; Kayla Lightner, Ayesha Pande Literary; and Todd Seabrook, The Cupboard Pamphlet--will answer questions about publishing your creative work, as well as careers in publishing.

Lisa Ampleman is the author of a chapbook and three full-length books of poetry, including Mom in Space(2024) and Romances (2020), both with LSU Press. Her poems and essays have appeared recently in journals such as 32 Poems, Colorado Review, Ecotone, Image, Shenandoah, and Southern Review. She is the managing editor of The Cincinnati Review and poetry series editor at Acre Books.

Kayla Lightner is a literary agent at Ayesha Pande Literary. Prior to joining Ayesha Pande Literary in 2020,Kayla started her career at Liza Dawson Associates. She also managed APL’s subsidiary rights department for two years before transitioning to full-time agent. Her client list includes multi-award-winning actor, Delroy Lindo; multi-award-winning journalist and food writer, Annabelle Tometich; and Vice, Teen Vogue, and Longreads contributor, Minda Honey.

William Todd Seabrook is the author of four prose chapbooks, and his work has appeared in The Fairy Tale Review, Western Humanities Review, The River Styx, TheAdroit Journal, Tin House, Mid-American Review, and PANK, among others. He has been anthologized in Best Small Fictions and 30 Under 30: An Anthology ofInnovative Fiction. He is the editor and designer of The Cupboard Pamphlet, a prose chapbook press. He received his MFA from the University of Colorado, and his PhD from Florida State University, and currently lives in Cleveland, Ohio.
