Krisztina Fehervary is a socio-cultural anthropologist. Her theoretical interests center on materiality and semiotics, with an empirical focus on consumer culture, aesthetics, architecture and home decor, popular culture and the body. Questions of political economy and historical transformation motivate her work. Her fieldwork has focused primarily on state-socialist and post-socialist eastern Europe (especially Hungary), but she has also carried out ethnographic research in the United States.
