David W. Blight is Sterling Professor of History at Yale University and Director of the The Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance and Abolition. He is the author of numerous bestselling books on American history, including Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom, which won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in History.
