Screening of independent art film The Mud, followed by Q&A with Director Rajeev Palakkacherry

Set against the unique ecological backdrop of Kuttanad, Kerala, India, the film follows the life of a schoolboy protagonist, Joseph. The narrative is framed by the principles of Integral Ecology—the dual imperative of addressing the cry of the poor and the cry of the earth.

This film is a quiet exploration of the meaning of life and the struggle for existence in rural India. It immerses the viewer in the value of village life while starkly confronting the disparity of opportunity faced by its protagonist. Joseph’s journey is one of resilience, as he grapples with the boundaries of caste, race, and creed that make life in Indian villages an arduous path.
