Alec MacGillis covers politics and government for ProPublica. He has extensive experience in journalism including previous appointments covering national politics and domestic policy for The Washington Post, reporting for and worked as a reporter at The Baltimore Sun and Concord Monitor in New Hampshire. MacGillis is also the author of The Cynic: The Political Education of Mitch McConnell. In addition, a recent Frontline piece titled “How Struggling Dayton, Ohio Reveals the Chasm Among American Cities” examines the challenges and successes of a mid-size Rust Belt city.
