Miami University Humanities Center Wins NEH Challenge Grant

In 2015, the Miami University Humanities Center won a prestigious $500,000 Challenge Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). To receive this valuable funding, Miami University must raise $1.5 million over the next five years. The result will be a new $2 million endowment to sustain the Center’s existing work and launch three new programs: a Humanities Teaching Lab, a Faculty Research Collective, and a Research Apprenticeship Program.

The NEH Challenge Grant recognizes Miami's innovative approach to faculty-student collaboration, its emphasis on pressing social challenges, and its commitments to public engagement and research excellence.

Start-up funds and elbow grease have allowed the Center to make great strides, but the Center needs your help to realize its vision for the liberal arts and humanities in the twenty-first century.  Our new endowment will challenge faculty to collaborate on urgent questions, greatly enhance one-on-one learning for ambitious students, and train a new generation of scholar-leaders at Miami University and beyond. Please join the generous alumni and friends who have invested in the future of the humanities.
