With the assistance of a $500,000 National Endowment for the Humanities Challenge Grant, the upcoming renovation of Bachelor Hall will include a new Humanities Center Hub. The project encompasses a holistic transformation of Bachelor Hall, providing a dedicated space for the humanities and enhancing the capacity for collaboration amongst faculty and students.
Within the existing footprint of Bachelor Hall, the building will undergo interior renovations to craft a modern and innovative Humanities Center. This dynamic space will serve as a hub for intellectual exploration, collaboration, and creativity. The existing internal courtyard will be repurposed, featuring a new roof and a skylight. This rejuvenated space will offer an inspiring setting for gatherings, discussions, and events.
The renovation of Bachelor Hall will locate multiple humanities disciplines to one space. Joining the English department, Humanities Center, and Ohio Writing Project, the building will house the media journalism and film, philosophy, history and comparative religion departments. This visionary project represents a commitment to the humanities, fostering an environment where scholars, students, and the community can engage deeply with the richness of human culture, history, language, and thought.
