The Humanities Center recently received a SHARP (Sustaining the Humanities through the American Rescue Plan) grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) for the 2021-2022 John W. Altman Program, “Race, Racism, and Racial Justice.” The program, spanning the entire school year, includes over a dozen distinguished lectures, a faculty research seminar, an undergraduate fellows’ program, a spring symposium, an advanced undergraduate course, and several major public humanities initiatives. The SHARP grant supports humanities institutions, organizations, programs, projects, and professionals to work on humanities activities, including education, public programming, digital humanities, and scholarly research. With the NEH grant, the Humanities Center will work to continue its mission to foster intellectual community, collaboration between faculty and students, and interdisciplinary research on race, racism, and racial justice.
